Letter to the Editor, Faith of the First Family President Trump professes his Christian faith both in his speeches and in his policies.  At the start of the pandemic President Trump called the nation to pray for our country and for the end of the COVID-19 crisis.  He regularly has Christian pastors and preachers pray over him and expend their blessings upon him. Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and an active leader in President Trump’s re-election campaign adamantly notes that this president is the most pro-life, pro-family and pro-religious liberty president that this country has ever had. Melania Trump is a Catholic; she was baptized in the Catholic Church as an infant. On her wedding day she carried a Rosary in her hands instead of a bridal flower bouquet when she ceremoniously walked down the aisle to marry Donald Trump. May he rest in God's Eternal Peace Ruben Garcia Valdez of Del Rio, Texas, 87, went home to be with our Lord on July 6, 2020. He was born August 22, 1932 in Del Rio. He graduated from San Felipe ISD and attended The University of Texas in Austin until his country called him. He left the University to serve in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War from October 5, 1954 - September 14, 1956. He was Honorably Discharged and went back to Austin where he completed his studies and graduated from University of Texas in Austin with a Zoology degree on August 13, 1957. After graduation, he returned to Del Rio to teach at San Felipe ISD—Chemistry and Physics. He was involved when Del Rio ISD and San Felipe ISD joined forces and consolidated as Del Rio San Felipe CISD. Letter to the Editor, Our founding is founded on faith In its beginning, our country started as long-suffering, struggling colonies.  It was the height of foolishness and recklessness to take on the majestically mighty British Empire.  How did these colonies grow to become the greatest global super-power in world history? It was because of godly, Christian principles that America became a great nation and our daring national experiment has succeeded spectacularly.  Our nation, under God, has deep-seated Christian roots. May she rest in God's GLORIOUS peace! Obituary Gloria S. Sifuentes, “Gogo” went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2020 at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by husband Tomas F. Sifuentes Jr., 4 brothers and 7 sisters. She survived by her daughter Gloria E. Pena, granddaughter Katherine Villarreal & husband Richard, great-grandson Richard Villarreal 3. She worked for 34 years at La Siesta Motel and 20 years with the San Felipe Del Rio C.I.S.D. as a substitute teacher. She was an alumni of the San Felipe Class of 1952, the Cactus Queen Basketball team and the San Felipe High School band. Gloria was also member of the Legion of Mary from Guadalupe Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM; Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.  The Legion of Mary will pray the Rosary for our beloved Sister Gloria at 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian will be hel
