They’re Holy Hands, not hired hands!

 

Personal reflection:

Priests are no longer pastors/shepherds.

They have indeed retreated from feeding and tending their lambs and their sheep.

They are hired hands who leave their flock for the wolves to devour. 

It’s a retreat from their pastoral responsibilities.

It’s a treat for themselves to partake of the big city restaurants and recreations.

Maybe we should bring back the custom of kissing a priest’s hands to remind them of their Holy Hands, and that they are not hired hands.
