Message from Anna Chapman: Gene Recovering
Hello Friends,
Gene asked me to send you all a note about his short absence from his editorials.
He had not been feeling well for over a week and I ended up taking him to the ER on December 16 and the doctor said he had a UTI.
Got him home and he continued with high fever and stomach aches.
On Sunday, December 21 he asked me to get the ambulance over to take him back to the ER as he was not feeling well at all.
I tried everything at home but noticed that he was not getting better but very uncomfortable.
On Sunday evening they determined he had a perforated appendix and needed surgery at once.
First, they told us he would be transferred to San Antonio but later determined he could not travel.
At 8:30 p.m. he went in for surgery.
He had a great surgeon and Gene was discharged Wednesday evening.
We had a very quiet Christmas day just trying to make him comfortable.
He is recovering well but is weak from his legs.
Monday, he will start home health care and PT.
I had a nurse come over and take care of the drainage tube they pulled out.
It kept seeping a clear fluid and getting his shirt wet.
I got scared.
The nurse came and clean the wound and put gauze and a strong tape and it is dry now.
Boy, he keeps me busy but I am happy his stomach pain is no longer there and it is just a matter of days that he will want to get back and stay up with world events and start writing again.
Thank you all for reading his articles.
Wishing you all a blessed and Happy New Year.
Anna Chapman
