According to the U.S. Department of State website: "In Gaza and the wider Middle East, the predominant religion is Islam. An estimated 99% of the population in the Gaza Strip is Sunni Muslim with small Shia and Ahmadi Muslim communities."

"Islam: Making up 94% of the population of the Middle East-North Africa region, Islam is the most widespread religion."
