for:
NOT
living in Washington State where Democratic Governor Jay Inslee cracked down on
indoor gatherings during the Thanksgiving holiday, noting that gathering with
those outside their home were banned unless everyone quarantined for two weeks
and tested negative for the virus. Like if the tests were so reliable,
billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk informed the public that in one day he was tested
four times for COVID-19; two came back that were positive and two were negative
. Being in quarantine for two weeks is not very holiday-like. So much for
celebrating Thanksgiving in the spirit of sharing and getting together with
family from far and near, might as well have had a virtual Thanksgiving.
Thankful for:
NOT
living in New York State where Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo decreed a
gathering limit not to exceed ten people to celebrate Thanksgiving. What if their
Thanksgiving gathering included more than ten people, who would draw the short
sticks and be booted out of attending the family Thanksgiving feast? What a
most sad and sorry situation for those unfortunate enough not to make the cut.
Thankful for:
NOT
living in California where Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom instituted that
Thanksgiving gatherings would be held outside, not last longer than two hours,
not include more than three households; food was in single-serve disposable
containers, people were allowed to use the indoor restrooms if they were
frequently sanitized, and the host collected names of all attendees and contact
information in case contact tracing was needed.
Thanksgiving isn’t a picnic-type setting holiday; it’s traditionally
celebrated around a dining room table inside the home-sweet-home. Two hours to
rush to eat, then everyone was mandated to exit the house. The Thanksgiving
feast is definitely not a fast-food type of event, it’s a time to make tons of
food, bring out the best dinnerware, silverware and fine glassware to make toasts.
They might as well have had a port-a-potty to go along with eating out of
Styrofoam containers.
These types
of Thanksgivings lost all their flavor and festivity.
