Reflection of Father Moreno's Homily: April 22, 2011- Good Friday

We are like lambs that need Our Good Shepherd. We must die with Jesus to be resurrected with Jesus.

John the Baptist saw Jesus and said, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world”. Jesus is The Perfect Sacrifice.

Pilate asked Jesus, “What is truth?” The Truth is Jesus and The Truth will set you free”.

We are at Golgotha with Jesus.

We can only find comfort, hope and meaning in our lives in Jesus. “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they do”. We must drink from the same cup that Jesus drank from, the cup of forgiveness. We are not to turn our backs against Him. We must forgive others; receive forgiveness and the healing mercy of Jesus Christ.

We are the mob and ignore The Truth. We must listen to The Truth. We want power, to dominate and control – Jesus wants us to be servants.

We are the soldiers following orders; just because it is a law does not make it moral. Abortion is legal but it is not moral. The law said that Jesus must be crucified because He blasphemed, but He is God.

“My God, my God why have you abandoned me”; we cry out when we are lonely, depressed or lost. Jesus identifies with our darkness, fears and death.
The soldiers were casting lots under the cross of Christ, like we gamble with God.  We are not self sufficient, we must embrace Jesus, forgive and let go.

“I Thirst”, said Jesus. He thirsts for us.

When we are lonely and weary we need the Body and Blood of Jesus. We need to come to Jesus to embrace His Cross with Him and come and be filled.
The New Covenant comes from the Cross, new life come from the Cross.

Mary, the Mother of Jesus was there at the Cross. When Jesus told John the Beloved Disciple, “This is your Mother”, He was telling us she is our mother. We must turn to the intercessions and prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother.

The Cross is the means to Victory, to the Resurrection.
Jesus died for us so that we would have our resurrection.
