Robert Huerta, age 43, entered into rest on December 4, 2009, in Del Rio, Texas.
He was born March 14, 1966 in Del Rio, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Huerta Jr., and his maternal grandparents, Pedro and Dominga Hernandez and paternal grandparents Jose Huerta Sr., and wife Teresa Rivas Huerta.
He graduated from Del Rio High School in 1984.
As a young child he learned a trade of cabinet-making handed down by his beloved father.
His passion was working in construction.
While in High School he was an outstanding baseball player and was coached throughout his childhood by his father.
He lived in Austin, Houston and San Antonio but always considered Del Rio home.
His joy was hanging out in the backyard with family and friends enjoying the view of the San Felipe Creek.
Robert “Piquina” was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
He had a great love for any person in need.
His heart was pure love.
His greatest love were his kids, grandkids and his mom who was the “rock” of his life.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Maria H. Huerta, Leticia Garcia, Melissa Huerta, Robert and David Huerta.
Also survived by his two precious grandchildren Angelina and Saniya.
Brothers and sisters, Mary (Nabor) Coronado of Edinburg, Texas, Terri Reyes of San Angelo, Texas, Janie Samarripa (Tom) of Odessa, Texas, Hilda H. Jewell (Steve) of Wiesbaden, Germany, Joe Huerta of Del Rio, Peter Huerta of Del Rio, Gilbert Huerta (Kim) of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Adolfo Huerta of Zaineville, Ohio, Leo Huerta (Debbie Calvetti) of San Antonio, Texas, Carmen Bautista (Henry) of San Angelo, Texas, Jose Luis Huerta of Del Rio, Texas, Erika Huerta of Ft. Worth, Texas and Anabel Saldivar of Kyle, Texas.
He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends, whom he adored greatly.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 10, 2009, 5:00pm-9:00pm, Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Chapel of Remembrance.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00pm.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 11, 2009, 10:00am, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Interment to follow at San Felipe Cemetery.
