Wishing you a Blessed Christmas From Saint Benedict Press and TAN Books

Image
Dear Friends, The Gospel of Luke tells us that "an Angel of the Lord stood by them and the brightness of God shown round about them" and "suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace to men of good will…" Luke 2:14 As we prepare to receive the Christ Child again this Christmas let us remember that this newborn baby will one day judge the world. Let us remember while it is necessary to accept this Christ Child as Savior it is not sufficient. No, we must accept Him as Lord of our life as well.     We encourage you to take time often to raise your eyes to our hoped-for final destination, Heaven. And we pray that you may find something that will change your life and the lives of those you love for all eternity. May God bless you and the Angels guide you, Robert M. Claretians of the United States celebrating 100th anniversary

The Claretians of the United States are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first settlement of priests in this country.    In the early 1900s, the first Claretians came to the United States from Spain through Mexico. They started out in San Antonio, Texas, at the invitation of the bishop. A team of three Claretian priests came to San Antonio in 1902 to fulfill the bishop’s request. Within two years the Claretians built and took charge of their own Mother House for the United States. By 1912, they had also built their own parish, the now historic Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. “Very early on, the Claretians set out from the San Antonio Mother House to California, Arkansas, Arizona, Oklahoma, throughout Texas—and then all the way up to Chicago—to preach and establish the congregation,” says Fr. Rosendo Urrabazo, the Provincial Superior of the U.S.A. The coming New Year marks the 100-year anniversary celebration of the completion of the Immaculate H...
