Wake up and smell the incense! by Marian Casillas, Ed.D.
Once you wake up and smell the incense, hear the church bells chiming, the altar bells ringing, and the choir chanting and singing at the Solemn High Mass of the Traditional Latin Mass, it’s hard to go back to sleep again.
Once your eyes are open to see God’s
Beauty, Goodness, and Truth, and your ears are open to hear God’s Beauty,
Goodness, and Truth, it’s hard to go back to sleep again.
The Traditional Latin Mass stays the same, needless to say.
It is unchanged and unchanging; ever young, ever old, ever new, who knew?
For so long we were all snoring and sound asleep; we said we were bored but we were never really on board.

For so long we were all snoring and sound asleep; we said we were bored but we were never really on board.
It never was about an exterior experience, it was always about an interior flame of exquisite influence.
Thank God for the sleep mask finally and fortuitously falling from our eyes because the sights were spiritually blinding, and for the earplugs finally and fortuitously falling from our ears because the sounds were spiritually deafening.
May we never wear a sleep mask again so that we may see with the eyes of the heart, mind, and soul of God, and may we never wear earplugs again so that we may hear with the ears of the heart, mind, and soul of God.
May we never succumb and be seduced by satan’s soldiers to be in a stupor or to be in a slumber.

It’s not party-time, it’s praying-time.
It’s not about fun and games, it’s about Faith and Graces.
It’s not a comedy club where the presider is a stand up comic during the homily and we laugh at the cheap jokes and clap for the ministry folks; it’s a Catholic church where the priest stands in for Christ and during the homily we silently listen, solemnly concentrate, and lovingly learn the Lord’s lessons for us in this life that will eventually lead us to everlasting life.
It is not about people theatrically performing up on the stage, it’s about the Three Persons of the Blessed Trinity pouring Themselves forth upon the Sanctuary.
It’s not about congregating as community for a celebration, it’s about Christ’s Crucifixion at Calvary.
Let us pray to God Almighty, that we may
always and everywhere be wide awake, with our eyes wide open to see and our
ears wide open to hear the Truth of God and the Traditional Teachings of the
Catholic Church.
Saint Joseph Protector of Holy Church, pray for us!
