Image
The   Feast of Archangels   is celebrated on   September 29th . Here is a prayer to the three Archangels. Heavenly Father, you have given us archangels to assist us during our pilgrimage on earth.   Saint Michael is our protector, I ask him to come to my aid, fight for all my loved ones, and protect us from danger.   Saint Gabriel is a messenger for the Good News, I ask him to help me clearly, hear your voice and to teach me the truth.   Saint Raphael is the healing angel, I ask him to take my need for healing and that of everyone I know, lift it up to your throne of grace and deliver back to us the gift of recovery.   Help us O Lord to realize more fully the reality   of the archangels and their desire to serve us. Holy Angels pray for us. Amen

Entries Sought for Family Rosary's 2012

The call for entries has been announced for the 2012 “Try Prayer! It Works!” Contest. In this national competition sponsored by Family Rosary, children are encouraged to express their faith through art, poetry and prose. The “Try Prayer! It Works!” Contest is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The 17th annual national competition attracts more than 3,000 entries from more than 50,000 participants nationwide. Children and teens from Catholic schools, parishes, home schooling and other Catholic organizations use their talent to convey their beliefs. This year’s theme – Fear not, I am with you! – focuses on The Visitation. In the Second Joyful Mystery, Mary visits Elizabeth after the angel Gabriel tells her of God’s plan. During the visit, Mary comforts her cousin and helps her as she awaits the birth of her child. How do you visit with people? Why do you visit them? Whom do you visit? Do you see Christ in others – like Mary and Elizabeth when they visited with e

Preparing for the Month of the Rosary

Image
October, the month of the Holy Rosary, is fast upon us. We recall that Our Lady of Fatima especially asked us to pray the Rosary for peace and conversion. All are invited to the “Family Rosary Crusade 2011,” which will be celebrated on October 15 at 12 noon in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza, commemorating the 50 th Anniversary of Father Patrick Peyton’s 1961 Rosary Rally. The 1961 event drew 550,000 people to Golden Gate Park. It remains the largest gathering in the history of San Francisco. Fr. Andrew Apostoli, of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, will give the keynote address. Fr. Apostoli will be joined by Holy Cross Fathers Fr. Willy Raymond, National Director of Family Theater Productions; Fr. James Phalan, Director of Family Rosary International; and Fr. David Marcham, vice-postulator for the canonization cause of Father Peyton. For more information: www.FamilyRosaryCrusade2011.com .

On Mary's 'Yes'

"In All Our Cares We Need Have No Fear, God Is Good" FREIBURG, Germany, SEPT. 25, 2011 (Zenit.org)   Here is a Vatican translation of the address Benedict XVI delivered before praying the midday Angelus with those gathered at the Freiburg airport, and after celebrating the last public Mass of his four-day state visit to his native Germany. Dear Sisters and Brothers! At the end of this solemn celebration of holy Mass we now pray the Angelus together. This prayer constantly reminds us of the historical beginnings of our salvation. The Archangel Gabriel presents God's plan of salvation to the Virgin Mary, by which she was to become the Mother of the Redeemer. Mary was fearful, but the angel of the Lord spoke a word of comfort to her: "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God." So Mary is able to respond with her great "yes". This "yes", by which she accepts to become the handmaid of the Lord, is the trusting "

Reflection of Father Moreno's Homily: September 25, 2011

Put on the attitude of Christ. Dress yourself in Christ. Who are you? You are who you are by the clothes you wear. Dress in Christ, dress like Christ. How you dress says, “This is what I am”. Dress so that others may see the modesty and elegance of Jesus Christ in my dress and in my person. We attract people or repel them by the way we dress. We must empty ourselves of our egos, our pride, our desire to point to others, our desire to measure and judge others differently then we measure and judge ourselves. We should dress with humility.                     We must become better humans. Jesus respected and loved women; he did not use or abuse women. We relate to the world by how we dress. Lord, teach me to be a light to the world and salt of the earth. Teach me to reflect Your Love to the world. In order to dress ourselves with Christ we must ask the Holy Spirit to guide us. We must be of service to others, we must help others, we must reach

Presentation Ministries: THE CIRCLE OF FIRE

Image
Access website: Presentation Ministries God will turn our mourning into joy; He will console and gladden us after our sorrows. —Jeremiah 31:13 When we have sinned, we have been defeated, debased, and exiled, and our lives are in ruins. After years of degradation, we can hardly conceive of anything but further devastation. Maybe our life has been one mess after another. Nevertheless, the Lord promises us: "I will be for [you] an encircling wall of fire, says the Lord, and I will be the Glory in [your] midst" (Zechariah 2:9). The Lord is going to protect you and even surround you with His fiery presence. No longer are you going to be marauded, trampled, used, and abused. Your future is to live in God's glory and not in sin, slavery, defeat, shame, and self-hatred. Therefore, "sing and rejoice...See, I am coming to dwell among you, says the Lord" (Zechariah 2:14). "Fear not, you shall not be put to shame; you need not blush, for you shall not be di

Presentation Ministries: The Courage To Work

Image
Access website: Presentation Ministries "Does it not seem like nothing in your eyes?" —Haggai 2:3 It's discouraging to see how bad things have become. It's discouraging to think that even our best efforts are very inadequate and possibly inferior to what we've done before (Haggai 2:3). It's discouraging to have your best work be overshadowed by the damage inflicted for years by the evil one. But now, "take courage, all you people of the land, says the Lord, and work! For I am with you, says the Lord of hosts" (Haggai 2:4). "I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of hosts" (Haggai 2:7). "Greater will be the future glory of this house than the former, says the Lord of hosts; and in this place I will give you peace" (Haggai 2:9). "For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future full of hope" (Jeremiah 29:11). "God is

Presentation Ministries: The Pleasure of God

Image
Access website: Presentation Ministries If you asked yourself: "Am I happy?", what would be an honest answer? Many people are more busy than blessed (Haggai 1:6), more stuffed than nourished, and more jaded than exhilarated (Haggai 1:6). The more stuff they get, the more empty they become. They have holes in their pockets and, worse than that, holes in their hearts (Haggai 1:6). We will be happy if we forget our pleasures and try to give God pleasure. A selfish, pleasure-seeking life is a lonely, compulsive life. A life of giving God pleasure is a life of love and communion. Happiness is refusing to enjoy pleasures alone, without God. Happiness is giving Him pleasure and sharing only in His pleasures. Prayer: Father, take pleasure in me. "Pleasing to Him be my theme; I will be glad in the Lord" (Psalm 104:34). Praise: Learn to offer all we do for God's glory, whether it be service to the poor or an evening shared with friends.

Meditation and Prayer

Image
Access: The National Shrine of Saint Jude God has a special plan for each one of us, as we heard Jesus explain in the parable of the workers during this week’s Gospel. Those who worked hard in the heat all day were jealous of those who worked for only one hour and yet received the same pay. Instead of being envious and jealous of those who have been dealt a better hand, let’s be grateful for the blessings God has given to us. Even when others prosper or have more success, we can give thanks to God for the blessings he has given to them. I pray that I will always strive to keep envy at bay, and to be grateful for blessings large and small.

Afterwords: Four Things

God commands four (4) things: 1)                   Flee 2)                   Find 3)                   Fight 4)                   Forgive FLEE - We don't flee the Lord. We love Him. We don't flee the devil. We attack him, and he flees from us. However, we do flee "all this". We flee the love of money, wanting to be rich, discontent, false teaching, bickering, and injustice. We must flee a secularized, self-centered, pleasure-seeking lifestyle. FIND – We must find the pearl of great price who is Jesus Christ. When we find Him we will have found the way, the truth and the life. When we find Him then we must help others find Him also. FIGHT - We must fight the evil one.   We must fight the good fight of faith. We must fight our most formidable foes which are our most frightening fears. We must fight and never grow weary because we have faith that our fight has already been won by Christ and we are the victorious ones. FORGIVE – We must forgive. We must
