Afterwords: Twenty-two (22) Words of Wisdom

Image
1)     Let the Word of God pierce, penetrate and permanently produce God’s Providence. 2)     Studying the Scriptures is not the same as Believing the Bible or Living the Word of God. 3)     Except for God’s grace we cannot take another step or say another word . 4)     As natural water showers our cells in life supporting and sustaining liquid, so the water of God’s word washes our souls of spiritual soot and slush.  5)     We water our bodies with natural water and our souls with the water of God’s word .  6)     Be doers of God’s Word not just hearers of God’s Word. 7)     Let the Word of God convict, convert and continuously call upon God’s Consolation. 8)     A lot of little words were used to make a big book, now a lot of little words make a big blog. 9)     There is power in the word “Yes” and there is even greater power in the word “No”. “Maybe” is a namby-pamby word with absolutely no power at all. 10)   Words matter, but it’s what we do with those words t

Memorial Day Prayer

Image
In the quiet sanctuaries of our own hearts, let each of us name and call on the One whose power over us is great and gentle, firm and forgiving, holy and healing… You who created us, who sustain us, who call us to live in peace, hear our prayer this day. Hear our prayer for all who have died, whose hearts and hopes are known to you alone… Hear our prayer for those who put the welfare of others ahead of their own and give us hearts as generous as theirs… Hear our prayer for those who gave their lives in the service of others, and accept the gift of their sacrifice… Help us to shape and make a world where we will lay down the arms of war and turn our swords into ploughshares for a harvest of justice and peace… Comfort those who grieve the loss of their loved ones and let your healing be the hope in our hearts... Hear our prayer this day and in your mercy answer us in the name of all that is holy. Amen. Father Austin Fleming, Priest of the Archdiocese of Boston,

Dear Friends, Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who sacrificed so much so the rest of us could enjoy the blessings of our God-given rights. Every one of them deserves our prayers and thanks today. As I offer my prayers of gratitude and pray for the safety of our men and women in uniform, I will also say a prayer for those we at National Right to Life defend: the innocent unborn and those threatened by euthanasia or infanticide. I will keep a place in my memory for the millions of unborn who have died because of twisted ideology and the financial greed of abortionists. Today is for the soldiers and sailors and airmen – please give them your heartfelt thanks. Tomorrow we go back to work with all our efforts. We go back to work to save the little baby who would feel excruciating pain if he is aborted. The grandmother nobody cares about. The disabled person who is fighting for life. Each of these vulnerable persons has God-given rights that we are bound to defend. Like

HOW TO KNOW GOD WELL

Image
To know God is possible only by His grace. However, we can do several practical things to help us receive that grace. If we pray with others who also know Jesus because they are His friends, we will be able to learn from these other members of the body of Christ and come to know Him even better. If we go to Confession at least monthly, we will remove the sin which hinders communication with the Lord. If we read the Bible daily and especially if we hear it read at daily Mass, we will get to know the Lord well. If we simplify our life, we will remove a surprising number of distractions from our relationship with the Lord. As a guideline, try to cut back our possessions so that we have less stuff than we had ten years ago. A great Friend is waiting. Get to know Him better and He will be our delight. Father, may the goal of each day of life be to know You better. Daily reflection on the Eucharistic readings Presentation Ministries : One Bread, One Body

Afterwords: Ten (10) facts about the future

Image
1)     The future is just a heartbeat away. 2)     We all play hide-n-seek with the future ; the visionary finds where the future is hidden while the rest are still counting down to start seeking. 3)     Don’t make the mistake of thinking so much about the past or about the future that we miss out on living in the present. 4)     We can never really plan for the future because it is always full of unexpected surprises that will find us totally unprepared. 5)     We have to let go of the past in order to embrace the future . 6)     Set our sights forward and be set for the future . 7)     Is the thought of our future filled with anxiety or anticipation? 8)     A person who brags about what they did in the past will still be bragging about it in the future and nothing new will have happened except the bragging will have gotten boring to everyone else except the braggart. 9)     God’s word for us is “now”.   God wants us to complete the unfinished business of the past and

Reflection of Father Moreno's Homily: May 29, 2011

Image
Ask the Holy Spirit to descend upon us and those who will graduate or who have graduated. In the sixth chapter of Saint John , at the Last Supper , Christ prays for His disciples, His apostles. Christ knows He will be betrayed, He will be tortured, He will be crucified, He will die, but He will also rise from the dead. Father Moreno told the graduates that they had to launch out of the comfort zone. Sometimes parents want to cling to their babies, like Mary Magdalene wanted to cling to Jesus. Forty-nine years ago Father Moreno graduated, he was the first one in his family to leave home and go to college. He remembers how his mother told him to kneel and she blessed him with holy oil and said, “I love you”. Just like he heard his mother tell him “I love you”, he hears Jesus tell him “I love you”. He spent 42 years as a Chaplain in the military. He went to Denver and heard Pope John Paul II tell the young people, “Do not be afraid and to know and always remember and nev

Afterwords: Twenty-five (25) Truths about Everything

Image
  1)       God in His Loving Mercy gives us everything we need and not everything we want. 2)       It doesn’t matter if nobody sees us because God sees everything . 3)       Take everything to God and ask Him what He wants you to do about it. 4)       God may we use everything You have given us to positively influence people. 5)       We can bless our lives by becoming everything God meant for us to be. 6)       There comes a time when everything else except God is: a waste of time – foolish – irrelevant – meaningless-ridiculous- trivial. 7)       Be open to God’s divine connections through everything – everyone – everywhere; especially when we least expect it, like right this very minute, exactly right now. 8)       God gave us everything we have, so give God everything we have. 9)       God fixes everything when we confront the situation in His Powerful Name. 10)   We cannot serve two masters; we should not worry but trust God for everything . 11)   Everythin
