Belia Isabel Urrabazo Sigala, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Del Rio, Texas on Friday, January 7, 2022. 

She was born November 5, 1929 in Del Rio, Texas. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Ralph Sigala; parents Trinidad an Cesarita Urrabazo; sister Aurelia Urrabazo, brother and sister-in-law Ignacio and Filomena Urrabazo, sisters and brothers-in-law Amada and Francisco Morua, Hortencia and Guadalupe De La Rosa, Catalina and Hilario Hernandez, Maria and Onesimo Adame, several nieces and parents in law Guadalupe and Delfina Cadena Sigala, and brother in law and sister in law Homer and Enedina Sigala.


Left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces and nephews.

Belia graduated from Sacred Heart School and earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Sul Ross State College. 

She began her 32-year teaching career on September 21, 1954 as a First grade teacher at Stephen F. Austin Elementary School (also known as “La Escuelita Amarilla”). 

She later transferred to Lamar Elementary School and finally retired in June 1986 after teaching Kindergarten at Travis Elementary School.

Belia was a devout Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart Church. 

In recognition of her generous service in the life of the Church, she was presented the Lumen Gentium Award by the Archbishop of San Antonio, the most Reverend Gustavo Garcia-Siller.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, January 15, 2022, 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Entombment followed at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
