Vatican: Next Three World Youth Days Will Have Marian Themes

The 2017 and 2018 diocesan-level events as well as the international gathering in 2019 will all be taken from Chapter 1 of the Gospel of Luke. The Vatican announced the themes for the next three World Youth Days, which are focused on Mary and form the basis of a spiritual journey culminating in the next global encounter in Panama in 2019. A Vatican communiqué revealed that the themes for 2017 and 2018 diocesan-level events as well as the international gathering in 2019 will all be taken from Chapter 1 of the Gospel of Luke, centering on Mary in the scene of the Annunciation and her Magnificat, spoken after her cousin Elizabeth’s declaration, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” The theme for the 2017 gathering will be: “The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name,” taken from Luke 1:49, while the theme for the 2018 encounter is: “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God,” which Gabriel the Archangel

Letter to the Editor, Attitude of Gratitude Mrs. Brown and Sra. Blanco greet each other. Mrs. Brown: Happy Thanksgiving! Sra. Blanco: ¡ Feliz día de acción de gracias! They sit in their usual park bench in picturesque Greenwood Park across from where they reside in The Roswell Apartments. Mrs. Brown turns to Sra. Blanco and asks, “Did you know that gratitude is called the rarest flower in the garden of virtues?”  Sra. Blanco replies: Yes, gratitude is the response of those who humbly and readily acknowledge the good that others have done for them. Mrs. Brown: And gratitude protects us from thinking that the world always owes us something.   Because not having to struggle for daily survival can pave the path to presumption.  Sra. Blanco: That’s right because if we have everything we need and want today; why not also tomorrow, and the day after and throughout our life?            Mrs. Brown: A cocoon of living in our comfort zone

November 16, 2016: Del Rio News-Herald * OPINION * Letter to the Editor * Masquerade memory

Image
Letter to the Editor, Masquerade Memory The annual Riverville Masquerade Ball at the Centro Civico was held on the Saturday before Halloween so the parents could enjoy their treat before their kids enjoyed their treats. It was a formal attire event, costumes were optional, but masks were mandatory. If the guest’s costume did not include a mask, then a small mask covering was gratuitously provided. It was a most elegant affair with the Big Band Orchestra coming all the way from Saint Anthony, playing a wide variety of dance tunes from Ballroom and Boleros to Country and Cumbias and everything in-between to please everyone’s particular dance tastes. Francisco and Fatima had both won free tickets to the Masquerade Ball and were sitting at the VIP table that was providing complimentary champagne and hors d'oeuvres throughout the night. Francisco quickly identified Fatima as Victoria from the musical “Cats” and she was amazed

Ponder this! All praise to God, our Life! by Cami Murphy

My brothers and sisters in Christ, Yesterday I was richly blessed to give my pro-life testimony at 2 Masses, and it was one of the greatest spiritual blessings that I have received in years. Thanks be to God! I want to thank all who were praying for me before and during the Masses. I felt the "peace that passeth all understanding" throughout the day, most profoundly during my testimony. Fr. Cesar, the celebrating priest, said before I spoke that my testimony contained the teachings of the Church, as I understood them from my life experiences. I felt the most profound experience of the Holy Spirit that I have ever felt. On the way to the first Mass, I was filled with this immense gratitude. It seemed like it must be filling the whole sky, and I believe that it was the gratitude of God Our Father, Jesus our Savior, and the Holy Spirit our Life, the gratitude of Our Blessed Mother, and the gratitude of all the saints and angels, for the testimony that I would give,

Letter to the Editor Published in the Kinney County Post

Letter to the Editor  Published in the Kinney County Post The truth is that the only people who "benefit" from abortion are those who are providing abortions.  They are making millions through the legal killing of unborn babies, which results in the stripping of the dignity of their mothers.  Women do not need the "reproductive rights" that the Democratic party so proudly proclaim.  They need loving support and laws that protect the lives of their babies and the dignity of the mothers. In the upcoming presidential election I am  choosing  the protection of our unborn babies and the dignity of their mothers.  I am going to vote for the candidate who has promised to appoint pro-life judges to the Supreme Court.  I am going to vote for the candidate who has been chosen by the strongly pro-life Republican Party: Donald Trump.  The fact that I don't personally like the man will not stop me from voting for him: for the sake of the bab

Pro-Life Testimony given by Cami Murphy at 9:30 am and 11:30 am Masses at St.Joseph Church in Del Rio, Texas

Pro-Life Testimony for Masses   I give thanks to God our Father, to Our Lord Jesus Christ our Savior, and to the Holy Spirit our Life, for the grace to be here with you today to share with you my experience with abortion and the understanding that the Lord has given me through my experience.  I also thank Fr. Clay for permitting me to talk with you today.  The Lord has put in my heart a very strong desire to share this testimony with you, for the sake of the unborn babies and their mothers and fathers, and for the glory of Our Merciful God.   First I want to say that the mainstream media give a very distorted picture of abortion.  Those who are pro-abortion give us the message that they are the ones who are  for women.  They give us the message that sometimes abortion is the best thing for a woman, and that they have the right to make a choice about what is best for them.   God created each of us with free will.  But it is also true that every choice we
