Do not eat food governed by sharia law (Muslim) or the dietary laws of kashrut (Jewish)

Q. Dear Father,

I live in the UK.

Here we have Muslims taking over our country.

Is it wrong to eat halal food?

I refuse to eat it.

Is there something in the Bible about eating food sacrificed to demons?

A. Dear Paul,

Not only would I not eat at a Halal restaurant and I would object to any Catholic eating at a Halal restaurant.

Halal food restaurants do not allow for non-Halal foods and therefore the patrons don't have a choice.

This would be the same for kosher food restaurants.

Catholics should be allowed the freedom to consume food not governed by sharia law (Muslim) or the dietary laws of kashrut (Jewish).

Many martyrs in the early Church were put to death because they would not eat meat sacrificed to the pagan gods.

Our opting out of dining at these sharia and kashrut establishments keeps us faithful to the witness that was given to us over hundreds of years of bloody persecution and intimidation.
