INDOMITABLE SPIRITS NEVER DIE by Gene Chapman

My Father was born in1893, fought in Britain and France during World War 1,  loved George Washington, who owned fox hounds as he, and honest Abe Lincoln, who was assassinated a scant few years before his birth. We had wonderful parents, who disciplined us lovingly, started working early in the fields, chopping and picking cotton, feeding the cattle, and mowing the lawn with an old rotating push mower.  By age 10  we were accomplished disciplined workers, the local farmers paid us adult wages to help them after our fields were finished.  We all did well in life, with one being on the private Rockefeller Christmas  Party list, but all self-sufficient proud in life.

When Trump first entered  politics I wrote devasting editorials against him, favoring Ted Cruz , spending time with his father and sister at the State convention. But when Trump began to rule, he could have easily be my father’s child with policies, I learned on our front porch under Roosevelt with high taxes and government programs that never allowed the little men to grow. Then along came Reagan, with low taxes, less government, and the booming economy of our 1940’s dreams!   And the liberal media hated him, because he loved little mankind.

After Reagan, the big spenders in congress  ran Washington until 2016, when  Hillary Clinton was a sure winner over Trump, promising lower taxes, fewer government programs with Democrats knowing Hillary was coming.  But  America, smarter than they thought, voted for lower taxes, less government, and got exactly that with the best economy since Reagan, on the right track again.  But in 2020 the Democrats knew Trump was winning, desperate to find any way to defeat the hated Trump against Joe Biden.

On June 19, 2025,  the FBI announced a new  investigation  into “alarming allegations” of interference in the 2020 election by the Chinese Communist Party.   Director Kask Patel revealed he had just sent a document to the Senate Judiciary  Committee, which he suggested illustrated a plot involving fraudulent driver’s license to be used for illegals voting by mail.” ‘Not only did they cheat’ Trump said with  tens of thousands of cards. They used these cards to vote on the second election, my second one in 2020, because everybody here knows, I won that election by a lot.”  The FBI announced it has located and declassified in response to a request  from Senate Judiciary  Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley. ”FBI Director, Kash Patel told Maria Bartiromo, on Sunday Morning Futures, “The investigation by the Senate Judiciary  Committee is just one of many looking into decisions that were made during the four years under President Joe Biden. One can learn a lot by listening to Maria B. on Sunday mornings at 9A.M. Fox News. In internet  communications, I learned that Kask will be releasing JANUARY Six corrections soon, making my columns over the years honest and true, but you will most likely never see or hear it in the legacy media, because it makes liars out of them. I  suppose I should celebrate but my heart is overcome with grief with the  devastating Kerrville floods.

I just saw on T..V. , a unique  low water bridge over the Nueces River we used going to Boy Scout weeklong campouts at Camp Faucett,  thirty years ago as Cub Master, now trashed by the flood, and visualized having hundreds of  Scouts with a wall of water, as we were camping on the banks of the river.  I recall being awakened around two A.M. in the morning to gather all the Scouts, and race to the highest point building because of an upstream thunderstorm, we could see over the horizon. There  was palpable fear in the air, as we waited out the storm ,happy to see the dawn in safety with a non-flooding angry river. That very thing happened upriver to the girls celebrating at a Christian campout  with a once in  a century  heartbreaking catastrophe of epic proportions ,with no high point place to go to, making political events a minor part of life.  I am so proud of Gov. Abbots emergency response, joined by Homeland Security director, Kristi Noem, with federal assistance with assurance of maximal assistance for saved lives and recovered victims. The president will visit this week to extend condolences and any help he can.

We visited Kerrville often,  when Anna was on  the State Bar of Texas Grievance committee for meetings  at the Historic Y O  Ranch hotel. It was built with a lot of granite, suggesting an unconquerable old west, with  bucking  broncos and weathered  cowboy paintings on the wall, who looked tuff enough to have rattlesnakes for breakfast. While Anna was disciplining wayward lawyers, I visited with some of the older women we knew from State  Republican conventions.  They were such joy, representing the pictures on the wall.

But today the Y O Ranch hotel wall is leaking tears for all their lost friends, especially the children. They will say their prayers, and never forget, but they know life aways goes on, and  it will, with an empty spot in their hearts forever, but there are horses to break, and cows to herd, and eventually the blue birds will sing again Thats the only way the wild west knows how to live, quite a bit more sophisticated than Judge Roy Beans Langtry.
