Mass for Persons with Disabilities? Don't we all have some abilities and not some other abilities?
Personal reflection:
“This sensory-friendly liturgy will include softer music,
shorter Mass readings, and a stigma-free environment.”
Shouldn’t all liturgies be spiritually-friendly instead of
sensory-friendly?
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all liturgies included softer
music, like Gregorian chant?
With the preponderance of mass media and especially social
media; we all seem to have developed shorter attention spans and therefore shorter
Mass readings and homilies seem to be the norm.
The average TikTok video length is generally considered to
be between 30 and 60 seconds.
In 2018 Pope Francis urged priests to keep homilies under 10
minutes.
Shouldn’t all liturgies be a stigma-free environment?
And even it is not stigma-free; do we attend the Holy
Sacrifice of the Mass to be approved by the congregation or to be approved by Christ?
“Bring any calming toys, fidgets, or accessories that might
help with comfort and sensory regulation.”
Won’t there will always be some discomfort and sensory
irregulation?
Shouldn’t we offer it up to God?
Aren’t we at the foot of Christ’s Cross at Calvary, and not
at a concert, or conference gathering, or community get-together?
“The assembly is ready to welcome all who attend.”
Shouldn’t all assemblies, congregations, and Catholics be ready,
willing, and able to welcome all who attend Mass?
We don't come to be welcomed, we come to worship God!
