Sister Margarita Martínez former teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Del Rio, Texas has entered eternal life
Personal reflection:
Requiescat in Pace (RIP)
Sister Margarita taught at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Del Rio, Texas.
May she rest in God’s profound and perpetual Peace and forever be among the heavenly host proclaiming “Praise be the Incarnate Word!”
Sister Margarita was the end of a long and illustrious era at present day Sacred Heart Catholic School in Del Rio, Texas.
She had the distinction of being the last religious sister from the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, which was the order of religious sisters who founded Sacred Heart Academy.
Established in 1900, Sacred Heart Academy was the first educational institution in the city of Del Rio, Texas.
It had the distinction of being the first Catholic school, at one time educating students from grade school to high school.
Throughout the years there had been Catholic schools at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and Saint Joseph Parish, but unfortunately they both closed their doors and Sacred Heart Catholic School in Sacred Heart Parish still remains with their doors open, although no longer staffed with religious sisters.
At the start of every school day numerous students have started their academic endeavors with the devout aspiration to Our Lord Jesus Christ and salutation to their teacher: “Praise be the Incarnate Word! Good morning Sister!”
God bless the long and lasting legacy of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.
God bless Sister Margarita having lived a full life through her vocation as a Bride of Christ serving God in the Church.
