Cultural craziness by Marian Casillas, Ed.D.

Cancel culture demands that all white girls remove their large hoop earrings because it’s a sign of cultural appropriation from black culture.

Cancel culture bans clapping and cheering because it’s not inclusive of deaf people. People have been instructed to use “jazz hands,” apparently unaware of how exclusive that might be to blind people who can’t see other people’s hands moving in the air.

Cancel culture opposes the hosing down of sidewalks that reek of excrement over concerns that doing so might be racially insensitive.

Cancel culture considers the size of chairs to be a micro aggression against overweight people.

Cancel culture bans the use of the word “chief” in job titles over concerns that the word could be interpreted as a micro aggression against Native-American indigenous people. Gone would be the titles for Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Chief of Police.

Cancel culture demands that students be excused from taking in-class exams because they didn’t have enough white privilege to be emotionally equipped to handle it.

Cancel culture gives in to a group of student protesters who crashed a college campus meeting; demanding it be shut down because “white supremacists” and “fascists” don’t have a “right to free speech,” and their very presence was making the library too “unsafe” for other people to read books and to think.

Cancel culture funds a lecture titled “(Expletive) Free Speech,” detailing the fact “the academy has never promoted free speech as a central value.”

The list of crazy things that have happened is too long to include in just one single article.

As the list of things deemed unacceptable to say or do grows, we’re also seeing huge numbers of our country’s young adults not just disrespect, but actually misunderstand the First Amendment. A recent study found that 44 percent of United States college students believe that free speech is not protected by the U.S. Constitution.

The best way to counter the craziness is to expose it and explain just how crazy it is.

Let’s not let the leftist-loons take away our culture.

We must counter all this cultural craziness, or soon there will be no culture left to cancel.
