Baby: not biological by-product by Marian Casillas, Ed.D.

celebrates LIFE
We celebrate life from the moment of natural conception to the moment of natural death, and every moment in between.
Fertility clinics are where human
beings are produced in a petri dish by taking the gametes, the sex cells, and
bringing them together so that embryos are engendered.
Some embryos are implanted in the
woman, in the hope they will ‘take,’ and the rest are left-over and frozen,
they are like frozen left-over’s in the freezer. Left-over babies frozen in
time and space, their further development has been put on hold. The pause-button
has been pressed on their progressing forward.
There are hundreds of thousands of embryos in suspended animation, in liquid nitrogen. Waiting to be born or waiting to be destroyed, who will decide?
There are all kinds of proposals for thawing frozen embryos, which are left-over from in-vitro fertilization procedures used to overcome infertility.
There are many who call for the thawing of these embryos so they can be disaggregated and used for research and also now with the push for expedited vaccines against all the future different COVID strains.
Some say it is life saving research, but whose life is being saved, not the baby’s life.
We value the person who has been born over the person who has not yet been born.
We want the frozen embryos to be our guinea pigs to be experimented on for the sake of the life-saving research of fully developed human persons.
Will the cures for life-threatening diseases come on the backs of these embryos?
Will they give up their lives so that others may live?
Will they be the sacrificial offerings that give up their lives so that others may live?
Who will live and who will die?
There are many embryos who are being engendered; human beings who are being brought into existence, so that scientists can do research on them and then discard them when they’re finished.
The born person has value, whereas, the unborn person does not have value.
When we see the de-valuing of the human person in its beginning stages, what will surely follow will be a de-valuing of human persons at their ending stages, and ultimately at all points in-between the spectrum of life.
