Good bye 2020, Hello 2021! by Marian Casillas, Ed.D.
This past year has just ended, out with the old, in with the new.
The year 2020 will go
into the archive folder, forever stored in the memory card of the gray matter
of our mind, as memories of long ago. Some memories fade and some memories
flourish; they’re all there and they have the potential to be retrieved at some
point in our life-history.
Each day holds a blank
screen in front of us, and each one of us has the ability to make it be filled
with a life well lived.
We pause and give
wonder, what 2021 has in store, no one knows, all we can do is hope and pray
for the upcoming New Year. It’s remarkable to note that the New Year of January
1 comes after Christmas Day of December 25, a week, seven days from one
celebration to the next.
This upcoming year has 12 months, 52 weeks, 366
days, 8,784 hours, 527,040 minutes, 31,622,400 seconds. And how many
more seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years will there be for us.
That’s a very well kept secret that no one has been able to decipher.
Life is a mystery,
filled with all the twists and turns of a riveting page turning adventure. We
are the protagonist of our life-story. The setting is where we happen to be and
the cast of characters are all the people that are around us and surround us.
We see the things we observe,
hear the things we listen to, smell the aromatic scents, taste the things we savor,
sense the things we intuit, think the things we think about and feel the things
we experience.
It’s our life-story developing
and evolving as we live through it.
So much happened
throughout the past year, some terrific and some terrible, as with all the
years that have gone before us; but through it all we are thankful for life, to
see another year commence and God-willing also see it come to a conclusion.
