Letter to the Editor,

Beto: Beta male

O’Rourke is in a crowded field of 20 plus and counting Democratic presidential candidates running for the nomination of his party in the 2020 election.

Since he’s been dramatically slipping in the polls, his popularity plummeting; he decided to re-launch, re-boot his image and re-introduce himself to the American public.

One of his first stops on his re-imaged campaign, to give him more media-exposure, was to visit the women on the “The View”; presumably a highly-viewed, daytime-interview television show consisting of left-leaning liberals and a conservative.

It turned out to be just another one of those “apology tours” that Democrats are so famous for engaging in; to show how “woke” they are, how sensitive they are and how much they truly get it.

Since he’s from El Paso, Texas, on the US/Mexico border, his nickname is “Beto”, he spoke a few words in Spanish. ¿Por qué? Why? Patronizing camaraderie and presuming commonality with the Latino/Hispanic community? Some women of “The View” were so impressed, they were gushing. Issues/ideas matter, don’t be fooled by fake-image!

When Meghan McCain, the conservative host, questioned him; he appeared to take it as a brow-beating even bowing his head down. He proceeded to profusely apologize: for being a privileged white male, because he hasn’t experienced discrimination, because he’s had advantages others haven’t had, because it was elitist of him to be on the cover of “Vanity Fair” magazine and for saying that he was born to be president.

It was a dismal display of a man assuming a submissive and subservient role in a social situation; it was a pitiful picture of a Beta male.

At least when he was standing on top of tables, his hands gesturing wildly; he appeared to be passionate in trying to persuade his audience.

Now he’s portraying a pathetically mealy-mouthed, milquetoast candidate.

Being a Beta male is not a particularly convincing argument or an attractive, winning image for someone who wants to be the leader of the free world, seeking the highest office of the land.
