Apples
and Oranges
How
can anyone take seriously a cable-news-network that brands itself with
commercials about fruits? Well, that’s what CNN has done. Those commercials are
corny, okay corn is a vegetable. They’ve gone fruity! Fruit loops! CNN has gone dippy, loopy, crazy and
cockamamie, off the radar.
First
the infamous Apples vs. Bananas ad: It starts with a red-colored apple, and
then the narrator explains: “This is an apple. Some people might try to
tell you that it’s a banana. They might scream “banana, banana, banana” over
and over and over again. They might put BANANA in all caps. You might even
start to believe that this is a banana. But it’s not. This is an apple.”
Then
came the Banana ad: It starts with a yellow-colored banana peel then the
narrator explains: “Some people might try to tell you that this is an
apple. It might even start as a
joke. But when they say it over and over and over again, and people
start to believe it, it's only a
matter of time until someone gets hurt.”
Then
CNN broadcast a Case of Apples ad: It starts with several red-colored apples
while the narrator explains: “This is an apple. And this is an apple. And this
is an apple. And this is an apple. And when you put them all together, you've
got a case.”
"The
definition of insanity is
doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."
Enough already with the fruit ads; just stick to the fake news that they are
notorious for taking a bite of the forbidden apple, they have been caught red
handed eating a rotten apple, they continue to slip up on banana peels and they
are the one rotten apple that spoils the case full of good apples. Just leave
the fruit out of it. The 30-second ads make CNN look and sound ridiculous.
Looking
at the Nielsen television network rankings for 2017 where Univision was 7th
and CNN was 22nd is like comparing apples and oranges.
