The Soundtrack of our Life

When we were in our mother’s womb, we blissfully listened to and danced to the rhythm of our mother’s heartbeat, the very first love song that tenderly touched our life forever.
Every birthday celebration began with the “Happy Birthday” song sung in unison by all the attendees at our birthday party, celebrating another year of life.
Every Christmas season we were regaled with the songs of celebrating the most joy filled and wondrous time of year; with the Christmas Carols from “All I want for Christmas” to “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and “Angels We Have Heard on High” to “What Child Is This”.
Each year ended with the traditional “Auld Lang Syne”, as we said goodbye to the year that had just ended and we said hello to the year that had just begun.
At various sporting events and ceremonies we proudly and patriotically stood with our right hand over our heart to honor our country with the singing of the “Star Spangled Banner” the National Anthem of the United States of America and we were all moved with the words “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”
At graduation ceremonies the graduates processed to “Pomp and Circumstance” as they entered to receive their diplomas.
At wedding ceremonies the bride gracefully glided down the aisle to the playing of “The Wedding March” while all stood to greet her and the wedding party.
At military funerals the solitary bugler played the solemn “Military Taps.”
In the morning the first song that played when the alarm went off and then we kept hearing it in our head all day long and we couldn’t get it out of our mind no matter how hard we tried.
The music we heard in the shower that kept us singing and dancing as we splish-splashed around the streaming water in our soapy birthday suits.
The music we listened to at work, at home and while driving in the car.
The music we heard in the movies.
The music we listened to while we did homework or housework.
The music we listened to in our surround sound entertainment systems or in our ear buds.
The music that brought back memories of smiles shining brightly or tears profusely shed; the sweetness that filled the heart with overwhelming joy or the sorrows that broke the heart into a million pieces.
And finally when we depart this world, the heavenly, angelic choir singing that awaits us for all eternity.
Each and every one of us has our own playlist of the songs in our own soundtrack of the story of our life.
