December 11, 2018: It's socialism, baby! * Letter to the Editor * OPINION * Del Rio News-Herald

Image
Letter to the Editor, It’s Socialism, Baby! Kids grow up protected by their parents, and then they want to continue being protected by their government. If they’re fortunate, their parents were loving guardians, they likewise want to believe that their government will take care of them and love them. Their parents made sure they were fed, clothed, housed and entertained. The food was free. The clothes were free. The rent was free. The pastimes and pleasures they partook of were free. Free is the only world they know.  Their parents kept them cool in the summer, warm in the winter. They softened the harsh winds of life that pounded and pummeled them in the lifeboat that kept them afloat from drowning in the flood of sorrow and tears.  Life in the family was a socialist paradise and they want this lifestyle to continue all life-long. Just like their parents protected them and provided everything free for them, they want the government to take the p...

November 30, 2018: Saint Andrew Christmas Novena

St. Andrew Christmas Novena Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born Of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother. Amen.

November 27, 2018: A fact is a fact * Letters to the Editor * OPINION * Del Rio News-Herald

Letter to the Editor, A fact is a fact No matter who says it; no matter how long they say it. They can scream; shout at the top of their lungs. They can throw toddler-like temper-tantrums, hold their breaths until they faint; so we’ll give in to their bullying threats and say what they want us to say. They can give it their stamp of approval on all the decrees, declarations they so desire. But the fact is; the fact will always be; a baby’s a baby before he or she is even born; the whole human race is divided into two sexes, each one distinctively different: male and female. Both totally and completely equal in dignity and respect but created distinct for the purpose of the procreative aspect of the marital unity. No matter how much they say it isn’t so; how much they don’t want to believe it, it doesn’t make it so, because the fact is staring them right in their face. We’re all alive in our mother’s womb; we’re all formed to live our life as male or female. T...

October 24, 2018: Pro-choice? Watch Gosnell Movie * Letter to the Editor * OPINION PAGE * Del Rio News-Herald

Image
Letter to the Editor, Pro-choice? Watch Gosnell movie Haven’t heard of the movie “Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer”?  Or the book “ Gosnell: The Untold Story of America's Most Prolific Serial Killer”? Or the actual abortionist’s trial in Philadelphia in 2013 which are depicted in the book and movie? It’s been blacklisted and censored by powerful pro-abortion organizations. Gosnell was given free rein, all in the name of protecting so-called women’s reproductive rights. Even without publicity, the book when first published sold out in three days and was the fourth bestselling hardcover nonfiction title in the country. Gosnell is currently serving life in prison for first-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, illegal late-term abortions, and violation of the 24-hour informed-consent law. Ironically, he was brought to trial by a pro-choice prosecutor. He ran a “house of horrors”; e mployed untrained, unlicensed workers in ...

Letter to the Editor, It’s still America, isn’t it? In 1995, O’Rourke was arrested by University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) police on burglary charges. He says it was only a prank, so keeping moving on; there’s nothing to see here. In 1998, O'Rourke was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI), the police report documents that he was trying to leave the scene, the charges were dropped after he completed a court-ordered DWI program. He says it was only a mistake, so keep moving on; there’s nothing to see here. In 2013, O’Rourke violated the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act, which prohibits members of Congress from participating in the initial public offering (IPO) of company stocks. He says he didn’t know that it was illegal, so keep moving on; there’s nothing to see here. Kavanaugh had a squeaky clean, exemplary and unblemished record as attested to by six FBI background investigations unti...

October 9, 2018: Del Rio News-Herald * OPINION * Letter to the Editor * A tale of two men of Irish descent

Image
Letter to the Editor, A tale of two men of Irish descent Once upon a time in the great country of America, there lived two men with “magically delicious” Irish surnames Young Mr. O’Rourke and Young Mr. Kavanaugh. Both grew up as highly privileged white males enjoying the good life afforded them by their social status; a “Lucky Charms” life “filled with marshmallow surprises, pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, green clovers and blue diamonds”. O'Rourke was born on September 26, 1972 in El Paso, the son of Melissa Martha (Williams), stepdaughter of Fred Korth, Secretary of the Navy under President John F. Kennedy, and El Paso County Judge Pat Francis O'Rourke. His father was a political associate of former Texas Governor Mark White. Kavanaugh was born on February 12, 1965, in Washington, D.C., the son of Martha Gamble (Murphy) and Everett Edward Kavanaugh Jr. His mother was a history teacher at...
