First Easter Bunny Tale

After attending a beautiful sunrise Easter service, Mr. Tibbar and his rabbit family from Texas and Sr. Ojenoc and his conejo family from Coahuila gather atop Amistad Dam to hear Grandpapa tell them the traditional Easter Bunny tale.

We’ve just heard the song with the lyrics “Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb? Were you there when the stone was rolled away?”

Well did you know that there were bunnies at the very first Easter?

Their names were Jeru and Salem, the Rabbits from Jerusalem, who were hopping inside a sepulcher in a garden near a place called Calvary.

It was Saturday and suddenly they see two men carrying a body wrapped in cloth and laying it on a slab of rock.

Outside the sepulcher they see soldiers and well dressed men roll a massive stone in front of the sepulcher where they are staying.

Jeru and Salem are stuck inside the sepulcher, they cannot escape.

They decide to make the best of it and lay down to sleep, but are startled awake with a blindly flash of light coming from the body laid on the slab of rock, that suddenly begins to move and they see a most Glorious Man sitting up.

Jeru excitingly whispers to Salem, “He’s not dead, he’s alive!”

The Glorious Man stands up and smiles at Jeru and Salem and they are mesmerized by His piercing eyes that look straight at them and they sense that He is someone really special.

Jeru and Salem have never seen a dead man come to life.

They tell themselves that they have truly witnessed a miracle.

The stone at the entrance of the sepulcher rolls away and the Glorious Man leaves.

Jeru turns to Salem, “Can you believe we just happened to be in the same sepulcher where Jesus was buried?”

Salem says, “Can you believe we were there, that we were the very first ones who witnessed the Resurrection of Jesus?”

Jeru ecstatically exclaims, “This is truly the greatest story ever told and it will be told to all generations to come!”

And that’s how the Easter Bunny Tale got started.

After the Easter egg hunt the Tibbar family and the Ojenoc family go to see the movie “Miracles from Heaven”.

Hoppy Easter!
