Del Rio Life Chain
Mom informs the family sitting down to eat dinner at
the kitchen table that she received an email about the upcoming Del Rio Life
Chain 2015 that is held annually sponsored by the Amistad Pregnancy Care
Center.
Mom notifies the family that this year the Del Rio
Life Chain 2015 will be held on October 25th from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
in the front area of the Civic Center facing Veteran’s Boulevard.
Mom is pleased that Del Rio is participating in this
national event that is a peaceful, prayerful and pro-life witness in our
community.
Dad says the family will be in attendance to support
the cause of life.
He lays out the agenda: “We’ll attend the late morning
Sunday Mass, and then go out to La Vaquita Restaurant to have lunch, by then
it’ll be time to go to the Pro-Life Rosary lead by The Legion of Mary of the
Del Rio Catholic Community at 2:30 p.m. and then the Life Chain from 3:00 to
4:00 p.m.”
Mom recalls that last year she stood with the sign
that read, “Abortion Hurts Women.”
Missy chimes in, “Last year I had the sign that says,
‘Abortion Kills Children’, I hope I get the same sign again this year,” and
then she turns to her mother and asks, “Can I ask for the sign I want or do I
have to stand with the sign they give me?”
Dad responds, “I will stand with whatever sign they
give me.”
Junior follows up with, “Me too.”
Missy pensively asks, “Why is there abortion?”
Dad takes the lead, “Because some people do not
respect the dignity and worth of each and every human life. Some people don’t
believe that the child in their mother’s womb is a person with the right to
life.”
Junior says, “Anyone looking at a sonogram can see
that it’s a baby growing inside the mother, and at CCD class (Confraternity of
Christian Doctrine religious education program) we watched the movie
"Miracle of Life," which showed a real live baby growing from an
embryo all the way to it being born. It was a totally awesome movie! Everyone
needs to see it.”
