The presence of Opus Dei in America:

It all started with Father Joseph Múzquiz

What is Holiness?

"There are people that enter into our lives sent by the Holy Spirit and make a great impact. In my life that was Father Joseph. He just opened up the way that I was to follow.”

Cardinal Sean O’Malley, the archbishop of Boston, said Father Joseph showed that "the virtue of everyday heroism can be achieved by all people of good faith.”Archbishop Jose Gomez of Los Angeles called Father Joseph "a true evangelist of our times.”

We are speaking of Father Joseph Muzquiz, the Spanish priest who in the year1949 brought Opus Dei to the United States. Opus Dei is a Catholic institution, founded by Saint Josemaria Escriva, that helps people come closer to God in their work and everyday activities.

Father Joseph died in Massachusetts in 1983. His life was an inspiration for thousands of people, who knew him as a dedicated priest, a tireless worker, and a man of deep faith.
