May 9, 2014: Del Rio News-Herald Letters to the Editor "Thank you Cinemark for faith-based movies"
Thanks to Cinemark 8 and to all in our community for
supporting Faith-inspired and Bible-based movies that have recently been shown
in our movie theatre: Son of God, Noah,
God’s Not Dead, and Heaven is For Real.
Given that these movies might have been flawed and
fractured, we must remember that God utilizes everything, including frail and
feeble instruments like films to manifest the transforming power of His Love
and Mercy.
Unfortunately, we do
not always get to see the theatrical release of some major movie presentations,
but with these movies we were afforded the opportunity of enjoying the
movie-going experience.
Of course, now movies
are available for viewing in DVD, On-Demand and Online formats; but seeing
movies in the theatre is a totally unique experience: sitting in the audience engulfed in darkness,
thoroughly enchanted and enthralled by the majestic, mesmerizing sights and
sounds of the larger than life story creatively portrayed on the wide screen eliciting
thought-provoking or cathartic emotional responses.
It was truly edifying
and heartwarming to see the theatre filled with multi-generational audiences of
the young and the young-at-heart.
Faith-inspired and Bible-based movies have been few
and far between; however, it now appears that we are witnessing a revival given
the enthusiastic support shown by their status as box-office hits.
Hopefully moviemakers
will continue to make faith and family friendly movies so we will continue to
be encouraged and uplifted in our journey on this earth towards eternity.
Light shines
brightest in the darkness and the Light of God’s Beauty, Goodness and Truth
shines beautifully and brilliantly; not only in the darkness of the movie
theatre but more importantly in the darkness of our world.
Movies have the
potential to transmit their cinematic charisma for the greater glory of God,
with the inspirational power to truly touch the hearts, minds and souls of
people everywhere with the grace of God.
See you at the
movies!
