Cruz Alcaraz, 86, entered eternal rest June 27, 2012 in Del Rio, Texas.
She was born March 10, 1926 in Terlingua, Texas.
She is survived by her sister: Maria Cepeda of Del Rio; brother: Jose Cepeda of Del Rio; niece: Mary and her husband John J. Fitzmorris III of Del Rio; nephews: MC Scott and his wife Mary of Del Rio and Dr. Joseph Cepeda of Canyon, Texas, Ricardo Cepeda and his wife Bertha of Austin, Texas and Orlando Cepeda of O’Fallon, Ill; great-nephew: John J. Fitzmorris IV of Del Rio and David Scott of Del Rio; great-nieces: Denise Braddy of Del Rio, Pauline Lazo of El Paso and Debra Lujan of Vermont; also, numerous great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents: Merced and Micaela Cepeda; husband: Santos C. Alcarza; 5 sisters and 2 brothers; nephew: Federico Scott and great-niece: Meagan Fitzmorris.
Cruz was an active member of Groupo De Renovacion” and “Luz Divina” both groups of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
And an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary.
She was a migrant teacher’s aide for many years and also worked in retail sales for Kress and Perry’s department stores. She loved arts and crafts and sewing.
Cruz was always helping others; she was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
Visitations will be on Monday, 5-9:00P.M, July 2, 2012 at G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home.
A Rosary vigil led by Rosa Cortez will be at 7:00P.M.
Her celebration of life Mass will be on Tuesday, 10:00A.M, July 3, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Interment will follow to Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
