Graduation Masses for the Del Rio Catholic Community Sacred Heart Church  Sunday, May 20 at 11:00 a.m. Our Lady of Guadalupe Church  Sunday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m. St. Joseph Church  Wednesday, May 30 at 6:30 p.m. Catholic Prayers: Graduation Prayer Father, I have knowledge, so will You show me now, How to use it wisely and find a way somehow To make the world I live in a little better place, And make life with its problems a little bit easier to face. Grant me faith and courage and put purpose in my days, And show me how to serve Thee in effective ways. So my education, my knowledge and my skill May find their true fulfillment as I learn to do Thy will. And may I ever be aware in everything I do, That knowledge comes from learning, and wisdom comes from You. Amen.

A New Language for A New Generation Pope John Paul II delivered a profoundly beautiful vision of human sexuality that he called the Theology of the Body. It is revolutionizing the way parents and educators teach morality and chastity to teens, as it provides the "whys' behind the "whats",  paving the way to true freedom and happiness. Theology of the Body for Teens is an exciting and dynamic program based on Pope John Paul II's revolutionary Theology of the Body. A seven (7) week course will be offered to High School teens this summer every Wednesday , 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. beginning July 11, 2012 . Media Missionaries on a Mission

Image
Thank God for all the new social media available at our fingertips . . . apps - blogs - email - Facebook - internet - Skype - text - Twitter - websites . . . We must view ourselves as media missionaries on a mission from God and for God . . . We can and must mandate movies with meaning and morality be shown in our little corner of the world . . . all for the greater glory of God . . . We need to be pro-active instead of just being re-active . . . We need to push forward with our God-given agenda instead of allowing other's agendas to push us out . . . Many people have expressed the reality that they have not gone to see a movie in a theatre in quite some time because there was nothing good worth watching . . . Now that people of faith and courage are making wonderful and worthwhile movies we need to support them . . . .

Pray and let God worry for you

Image
(Received in email) http://www.stanthonydanbury.com/prayers.html I love this site.........go to the prayer index......that is the part I need to wrap my head around........stop worrying and let God do the worrying! God wants to be in relationship with us. And He knows we need what He can give. Through prayer, we experience life-transforming, life-renewing intimacy with the Creator of the universe.

Call to Prayer

Religious Liberty Prayer Campaign - "The U.S. Bishops are asking Catholics and all Americans to join in a nationwide prayer campaign for protection of religious freedom and conscience rights." "In particular, we recommend to our brother bishops that we focus 'all the energies the Catholic community can muster' in a special way this coming summer. . . . This year, we propose a special 'fortnight for freedom,' in which bishops in their own dioceses might arrange special events to highlight the importance of defending our first freedom. . . We suggest that the fourteen days from June 21-the vigil of the Feasts of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More-to July 4, Independence Day, be dedicated to this "fortnight for freedom"-a great hymn of prayer for our country." Website: http://www.forgreaterglory.com/ Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/forgreaterglory Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/#!/forgreaterglory What price would you pay for Freedom? In the exhilarating action epic FOR GREATER GLORY an impassioned group of men and women each make the decision to risk it all for family, faith and the very future of their country, as the fim's adventure unfolds against the long-hidden, true story of the 1920s Cristero War, the daring people¹s revolt that rocked 20th Century North America. Academy Award® nominee Andy Garcia headlines an acclaimed cast as General Gorostieta, the retired military man who at first thinks he has nothing personal at stake as he and his wife (Golden Globe winner Eva Longoria) watch Mexico fall into a violent civil war. Yet the man who hesitates in joining the cause will soon become the resistance¹s most inspiring and self-sacrificing leader, as he begins to see the cost of religious persecution on his countr...

Into Your Hands, Father: Abandoning Ourselves to the God Who Love Us by Father Wilfrid Stinissen

Image
In the spiritual life, we need a central idea: something so basic and comprehensive that it encompasses everything else. According to Carmelite Father Wilfrid Stinissen, surrender to God, abandonment to the One who loves us completely, is that central reality. The life of Jesus shows us the centrality of abandonment, for it is truly the beginning and the end of his mission on earth. Father Stinissen distinguishes (3) three degrees or stages in abandonment . (1) The first stage consists of accepting and assenting to God's will as it manifests itself in all circumstances of life. (2) The second is actively doing God's will at every moment of one's life. (3) In the third stage, abandonment to God is so complete that one has become a tool in God's hands. At this stage it is no longer I who do God's will, but God who accomplishes his will through me.

Movies coinciding with real life current events . . . “October Baby” and “For Greater Glory”

People who have gone to see " October Baby " again thought they wouldn't cry since they had already seen it, but they did cry.   " October Baby " is truly a God anointed movie with a beautiful, moving and powerful message.   It was wonderful to see the coalition of churches working together to bring this movie to Del Rio and all the people who went to see the movie.   After seeing the previews let's hope the movie " For Greater Glory " comes to Del Rio.   The movie website describes " For Greater Glory " as "A chronicle of the Cristeros War (1926-1929), which was touched off by a rebellion against the Mexican government's attempt to secularize the country."   Isn't that exactly what the American government is attempting to do with the HHS Mandate? Trying to take away our most cherished right of religious liberty and freedom of conscience.   April is Abortion Recovery Awareness Month and how providential that the movie...

I don't like to gossip, but I heard . . . .

(Received in email) Ehhhmmm, I don't like to gossip, but I heard the Father telling the Son to tell the Holy Spirit to tell the Angels to protect you today, tonight and always! It’s in the Word. Ssshhh...Just say AMEN and pass it on! GOOD GOSSIP FROM ABOVE IS THE GREATEST WORD OF ALL. Have a Blessed Day, my friend. Look back and thank God. Look forward and trust God. Look around and serve God. Look within and find God!" Who wouldn't forward it!!! God closes doors no man can open and God opens doors no man can close. If you need God to open some doors for you...   Without God our week would be: Sinday, Mournday, Tearsday, Wasteday, Thirstday, Fightday & Shatterday.

(Received in email) Hello Media Missionaries, I was standing in line at one of the parishes in my area after the Divine Mercy Mass and I could not help but over hear the conversation behind me. Several women were talking about the programs on EWTN and how much they “love EWTN”. I was beaming like a proud momma! This just goes to prove that your efforts are not in vain but in a quiet way, very productive to your parishioners. Plant the seeds and they will grow. These are two photos of some members of our San Antonio Media Missionary family that are doing a wonderful job in displaying their EWTN materials in their church foyers. If you would like to share a photo of your material display, please send your photos to me at ken.deb.felder@att.net . I would love to share your ideas with other media missionaries in our area. Please encourage your parishioners, your parish secretary and priest to sign up for EWTN’s weekly E-newsletter at www.ewtn.com for notices via email o...
