The words of Father Corapi - Part II
The words of Father Corapi
The Legion of Mary
Part II
The following is a synopsis of the second (2nd) talk given by Father Corapi, August 7 in San Antonio during his conference entitled: “Life, Love and the Purpose of our Existence”.
He began with the Prologue of the Gospel of St. John: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be”.
To the degree that we are in God, with God, through God, of God; we have life.
There are two (2) deaths, first is our physical death and the second death is the loss of eternal salvation. We must not give in to “fuzzy thinking” about heaven and hell, there is a heaven and there is a hell.
We must not delay our real conversion and we must repent of serious sin whether we are eight (8) or eighty (80).
If we do not express love we are impoverished and unfulfilled. We must do everything for Jesus; He must be our origin, our outlet and our objective.
He exhorted us not to be surprised or shocked by the scandals or the sins of others and not to add fuel to the fire by fanning the flames with falsehoods.
He said, “I don’t have to like everybody, I do have to love everybody”.
We don’t have to like others, but we do have to love them and that means desiring for them to be in heaven and doing whatever it takes to get them there.
We must see Jesus in every human being. We must desire their eternal salvation and do something about it by being merciful and charitable.
The tongue can either be tortuous or tender. Where there is no love of God we put some love of God there. Where there is no faith in God we put some faith in God there.
A life well lived is the most eloquent sermon, we must rejoice in that reality. We must not become disillusioned or discouraged.
Grace is not cheap, every penny will be paid, and we must pay the price. The price of the soul; how much does it cost? We must accept the trials and tribulations of our state in life.
Penance adds to the power of prayer.
He recalled what his grandmother would tell him when he didn’t want to do something he had to do: “Offer it up”. He didn’t understand it, but he never forgot it. We save a soul with Him, in Him and through Him.
He wrote a doctoral dissertation of three hundred and thirty (330) pages on the theology of redemptive suffering and his grandmother said it all in just three (3) words: “Offer it up”.
We must surround ourselves and place ourselves in a good spot among saints. We must always come as a servant ready, willing and able to serve others and do the hard and dirty things because love is a sacrifice and we must unite all our pain to Jesus crucified and risen.
