Rosa Maria Flores - Legion of Mary Auxiliary Member
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
Rosa Maria Flores, age 62, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 3, 2010 here in Del Rio. She was born August 30, 1947 in Del Rio. As a child, Rosa was a member of “Las Hijas de Maria” church group. In 1961, Rosa was the Valedictorian of her 8th grade class. Then, Rosa was the Salutatorian of San Felipe High School’s “Class of 1965”.
After leaving Del Rio, she attained her BA from Texas Women’s University in 1969. Then in 1972, she graduated from Sul Ross State University with her master’s degree.
Professionally, Rosa began her career as a teacher. She then entered the administration field as a vice-principal at Garfield and Lamar Elementary. She was also a devout member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church having taught CCD for many years. Rosa finally retired after 35 years of service with the district.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Eugenio and Mercedes Flores;
Surviving family members include her sister, Angela Flores-Koblinski of Del Rio; brothers: Eugenio (Gene) Flores and wife Raquel of Del Rio, and Luis Augustin Flores of San Angelo; nieces: Danielle Flores Koblinski of Houston and Rachel Flores of Corpus Christi; nephews: Gene Flores Jr. and wife Stacy of Houston, and Luis Alberto Flores of Del Rio; great-nephews: Trenton Gene Flores and Raelynn Denise Flores.
The Flores family will be receiving guests today from 3 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A Holy Rosary will recited at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Luis Alberto Flores, Gene Flores Jr., Freddie Mireles, Juan Fernandez, James Fernandez, and Roberto De Leon.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Don’s Funeral Chapels.
