SAN ANTONIO TO HOST RARE FR. JOHN CORAPI PRESENTATION

Fr. John Corapi may be the only person alive who can say he’s been a Golden Glove contender, millionaire businessman, homeless drug addict, and world-renown priest. Filled with the desire to “be somebody,” young Corapi embraced the promises of the world. He spent years reaching heights most Americans only dream of — including partying with Hollywood stars and owning his own Ferrari.

One after another, though, his worldly successes left him empty and suicidal. Through his mother’s love and God’s grace, he found the fullness he always sought. After 20 years without any tangible evidence of faith, Corapi sought God’s forgiveness. When he told his confessor he believed he was being called to the priesthood, the priest said, “With God, all things are possible.”

Indeed, with God, all things are possible.

Today, Fr. John Corapi is a world-renown, highly-educated scholar and one of the Church’s most sought-after speakers. His broadcasts and writings have reached countless Catholics and Christians across the world.

Fr. Corapi has only five scheduled presentations in 2010. San Antonio has been selected for one of those appearances. On Sat., Aug. 7 at the AT&T Center, Fr. Corapi will speak at the request of The Alexander House, which is based in San-Antonio. In this rare appearance, Fr. Corapi will share Christ’s teachings using the wit and wisdom for which he’s earned his reputation.

The Alexander House is an international Catholic marriage ministry that aims to save and help marriages to flourish by proclaiming the beauty, goodness and truth of God’s plan for marriage. The founders, Greg and Julie Alexander, concluded several years ago that their marriage needed to end.

After much soul searching, faithful guidance and prayer, the couple invited God into their marriage. That’s when the idea for The Alexander House was born. For 10 years, the Alexanders have been sharing their experiences with others whose marriages are in trouble. Of the 1,200 couples they’ve coached, only 23 have gone on to divorce.

Julie Alexander explains that the marriage covenant parallels God’s covenant promise with the Chosen people. “Marriage is so much more than just a contract between two people,” she said.

Greg adds that “Fr. Corapi’s passion and zeal for serving God, his people and our Church compliments our mission perfectly.” “We are humbled and honored that he has agreed to this very rare appearance on our behalf.”

Catholic recording artist Michael John Poirier & Friends will also perform at the event.
