Summit meeting of Bishops from Texas and Mexican Border States - September 10 -11, 2010 - Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico
There will be a summit meeting of about nine Bishops from the Mexican border states of Coahuila, Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon and from the state of Texas. The Bishops will be dealing with the subject of migrants, what is being done by the Church, how can it be improved, and mainly, to make society conscious of the respect which migrants deserve.
Acuña, Coahuila and Del Rio, Texas will host the summit meeting of Border Bishops on September, 10 and 11. On September 10 the Bishops will discuss the theme of migration and the individual rights of all migrants. On September 11 the Bishops will celebrate the Day of the Migrant.
After the Summit meeting in Acuña the Bishops will lead a march along with priests and all are invited to participate. The march will conclude at the Braulio Fernandez Aguirre Park, on the edge of the Rio Bravo/Rio Grande. Mass will be offered in memory of the thousands of migrants who have died trying to pursue the American dream and whose only downfall was to search for a better life for themselves and their families.
