June 21 - July 4, 2012: Fortnight for Freedom

Bishops Launch Fortnight for Freedom Campaign



The U.S. bishops have issued a call to action to defend religious liberty and are urging laity to work to protect the First Freedom of the Bill of Rights as well as participate in a “Fortnight for Freedom” from June 21, the feast day of St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher, and ending on Independence Day to focus “all the energies the Catholic community can muster” on this issue.

The bishops are announcing the publication of an outline of their position religious liberty, entitled, “Our First, Most Cherished Liberty,” which was developed by the Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Liberty.
